Irvin Learning Farm – Growing deep connections between children, educators and the natural world.

Irvin Learning Farm & Nature Center is an inquiry-based, hands-on learning space sited on Triangle Land Conservancy’s Irvin Farm Preserve; 269 acres of pasture, forest and wetlands. Irvin Leaning Farm’s programs are led by experienced, knowledgeable naturalists, educators and artists.

Our Mission

Irvin Learning Farm is committed to giving children, educators and other adults experiences in the outdoors that enhance their current lives and learning and that instill in them a love of the natural world and a lifelong commitment to stewardship.  Key to our mission is serving individuals who do not have ready access to quality outdoor learning experiences.

It’s a farm and a whole lot more…

People learn and experience the world around them differently when they are in natural settings.  Irvin Learning Farm’s setting is ideally suited to support children’s innate curiosity about how the world works.  It engages both children and adults in meaningful interactions with the natural world and then builds on this unique relationship between individual and environment.

Our approach integrates the arts, sciences and humanities, all with outdoor learning.  We emphasize community-building and a culture that values interpersonal relationships.  Our teaching style encourages individuals to learn through direct, hands-on experience with nature.
